The art of taking portraits is fascinating. I had someone tell me once they felt like I was staring into their soul with the 70-200mm telephoto lens. In a way it’s true. Although it’s only a small snap shot, a portrait gives you a window into the soul of the subject. A good portrait should. A good photograph should tell a story about its subject. What makes them smile, what makes them laugh? A good portrait fascinates me because you can learn so much and yet so little about a person. And that’s a good thing because people are unique, creative, full of joys and sorrows, full of so many different thoughts, emotions, feelings, and aspirations. People are created in God’s image.
